homemade headphones

Postby buckeyehunter » Sun Jul 04, 2010 8:49 pm

I have been messing around with headphones in my spare time, fixing the ends etc when I decided to build a set. I found a light weight pair of protective ear muffs then I ordered a few sets of nice speakers and volume controls. Finished my first pair yesterday and they sound GREAT! I have two pair of Koss headphones which are some of the best sounding headphones I have ever used. Maybe it is because I built these but I think they sound better than both pair of Koss, deffinently less distortion that my one pair.

Maybe it is just me but I keep my headphones turned up all the way, any pair I have used on the E-trac and I have the volume on the E-trac up all the way. These and all the others are plenty loud enough with volume up all the way but it bothers me I have to have it up all the way.. I think next thing I am going to work on is building a amplifier. I did take them to my brothers house and plugged them into his stereo and they sounded GREAT!! even cranked up they sounded amazing!

These are a very light pair and will probably experiment and build some heavier ones, these were tough to work with getting the volume controls and speakers in them together but they feel great on my head and not heavy.
